I know it was a very difficult pitch to put too much store in the performance. Especially after playing on manicured PL pitches most games.

However, I think it confirms that our 2nd string are not the best. Johnson is OK but not an over lapping LB. Lanzini, Yarmolenko and Randolph are marginal at best. We know Noble has seen better days but I thought he did OK. Benrahma may or may not make it - I hope he does.

Clearly, we need to get rid of some of them as soon as they can be sold or loaned out...

Pleased to see a strong squad out. first time we have taken the cup seriously (not getting smashed by the like of Oxford).
My take was that whilst Noble can pick a pass, he slowed the game down which worked very much in Stockports favour. Poor conditions didnt allow the likes of Lnzini and Bananarama to shine, however, it is looking like Said will fall down the pecking order as he is failing to deliver. It might be teh case that he is brought on when we are leading for some fresh legs, but in all the time I have watched him he hasn't really done anything that i believe is outstanding. It might the case the harder he works the luckier he will become - but we all know the ruthless nature of the PL and you cannot afford to carry any players

C&P from the BBC sport page today;

Moyes said: "All our first team players will be there. I always go for the cup - nothing would give me more pleasure than winning it."

Aren't the kids isolating, so he couldn't weaken the side even if he wanted to?

We should start with our strongest fit team because Stockport will like nothing more than a pit-a-pat slow and defensive start by West Ham. Don't let them get into their stride in the first place.

I thought he'd already said same squad as Everton minus the two that left.

Moyes will play at least 5 at the back. Tragic that the club doesn't have a recognised striker in the first team squad

Apparently Silva is doing ok, but not really good.

Silva is at Greek club Aris and has scored 1 goal and made 2 assists. He has played in 9 of the 14 games Aris has played. He has started 4 games and has been a sub in 5 games. He has never played an entire game. His starting positions have been 3 times as a right winger and once as a left winger. He has started the last 3 games, which suggests he is getting more important to the team. Transfermarkt.com, value him at 0.8 M Euros.

He is at Aris Thessaloniki Football Club, which is one of Greece's most successful clubs, having won the fourth most Super League titles after Olympiacos. Aris at present 2nd in the Greek Super League 1, behind Olympiacos.

The U23's haven't been winning much, injuries and covid affecting them badly. Holland came back recently and made a difference but no games since well before Christmas means they will be hardly match fit. Still they will be able to run around better than Noble has
(sorry Mark,I do still love you ) Hopefully there will be several on the bench and if we are doing well then they can come on.

Yes, just like the Oldham match, except that we had a roof above the away supporters at Stockport.

Exile, sounds to me like a big ask to go straight from recovering from an injury to the 1st team. Still I did read Odubeko has done some training with the 1st team. I would love to see one of our forward youngsters get some time on Monday.

Anyone know how Silva is getting on? In Greece I last heard?

Med - Odubeko is younger and is considered much more of a prospect than Afolayan. He has missed most of the season with injury but is fit again.

Take nothing for granted and treat them with the respect they deserve but I would go for Lard's team, even 2 players short should be enough

Fifth, that would need to be Oladapo Afolayan from the U23s, he has scored 5 this season and I think the only U23 forward that has scored, which makes me think the U23s may also be playing a lone forward. I should say I do not follow the U23s at all. Also Afolayan is 22 so he needs to start with the 1st team or be sold as he will never make it with us.

If we play a CF from the Academy rather than Antonio who will it be?

I would have thought Moyes would be more likely to play Yarma or Benrahama up front but I hope not. If we play a very strong 10 with an Academy kid up front it should still be enough to beat Stockport

Re: Team for Stockport County – FA Cup 3rd Round Monday 11th January
Given that you can name 9 subs in the cup and use 5 of them, I would think the squad would be the same as for Everton minus Haller and Snodgrass obviously, plus a few others. Word is that Odubeko has been training with the first team squad and I expect there may be one or two others.

I see the logic, but I’m not sure if it will play out. I reckon if the ball is there to be won, he will be busting a gut to win it.

Ultimately I suppose it will come down to the medical staff saying hi hamstring is up to the job, if it is, then he should play. If it is borderline, I don’t think he should
